What to Expect at Your Telemedicine Visit

Learn What to Expect During Your Telemedicine Visit

Telemedicine is growing in popularity, especially during the global pandemic, COVID-19. As you hear more about virtual appointments, you may be intrigued in how to schedule one yourself. This article will teach you everything from how to prepare and what your visit will be like.

How to Prepare for Your Virtual Appointment

Once you schedule your appointment, you don’t need to do much to prepare. However, you should still take a few steps to make sure your virtual visit is a success.

  • Be sure to give us an accurate phone number and email address to receive the virtual appointment link.
  • Check to make sure you have a stable internet connection and a phone that will allow you to video chat with your doctor.
  • Identify a quiet and private space for your visit and create a list of questions and concerns to ask during your call.
  • Make sure you have your photo ID ready for verification.
  • Now you are prepared, but what to expect during the visit.

A telemedicine appointment is straightforward.

You will need to provide your current location.

If it is your first appointment, you’ll meet with the medical assistant first to confirm basic health information, verify your photo ID, and update medication information and complete screenings. Once complete, the physician will join you for your visit.

If you’re having a follow-up appointment, your doctor will ask you to provide an update about how you’re feeling and how treatment is working. He or she may also make further diagnostic and treatment recommendations.

At the conclusion of your visit, the providers will send a medical message to the patient service specialist to schedule follow- up appointments.
